The non-mechanic is back with a noob question. What is a clutch fan and what does it do? How is he able to run the truck without it on? Thanks for your patience with my slowness lol !

The clutch fan is the fan you see on the front of your engine. It has a heat activated clutch inside it that locks up when a certain temp is reached, thus cooling the engine. The reason myself and others get rid of it is that it runs using a belt pulley with the other accessories on your engine, thus leaching horsepower and fuel mileage. An electric fan still cools but without using engine power, just electrical power.
