Well I don't "technically" own mine either, but I will in 28 short years!

i figured what i was paying in rent in colorado and it was 16,800 a year to someone else's pocket. then another 12,600 in rent in blanchard. we bought our house as soon as we decided we were going to be in tulsa for a few years.

best thing i have ever done on a mortgage is bi-weekly payments. you pay the same amount every month but cut your interest down significantly. meaning you will have more equity in your home faster, always a good thing.

I thought about doing that but that gives you an extra 2 payments a year which I don't really want... I have actually been trying to pay off all my damn credit cards. Just paid off 4 retail cards yesterday at a total of $1400! I would have liked to use that for mods, but I'm tired of having credit card debt!

Medical bills are the majority of my CC debt now...we're slowly knocking out the last two and have already put them away in our safe deposit box so they are not tempting.

We both quit using credit cards all together a while back. We racked up a lot of debt while my wife was in school, then the wedding, then buying a house and getting laid off in the same month. I recently paid off my $5000 Lowes card and $2500 Dell Card. I will not ever use the Dell account again, but I do still use the Lowes card for my 5% off, but pay it in full every month. Those crazy bastards gave me a $6000 credit limit!
