Auto headlights

So I am coming over from owning a Chevy and it had the daytime running/auto headlights. My 08 1500 has manual headlights. Now I know I can rig something up to have the lights turn on and off with the ignition but i would rather not do that. I am curious to know if this was an option on the 08 and if so how hard of a project would this be to make happen. Thanks in advance.

Is there a small dome object in the center of your dash, right next to the windshield?

Not that I have noticed. I will check again here when I get the truck back.
