Default Superchips cortex tuner 3950

Alright this dude is selling this 3950 cortex for a hell of a deal he has only had it for 3 months and sold his dodge truck he still has the receipt from when he bought it.

I asked him if it was VIN Locked and he said it was not.... But I'm not going to trust someone I have never met before.

How can I test this thing before I buy it.. Where can I see if the VIN is locked?

he is asking 200 for it but I talked him down to $175! and then I'm going to sell it to my boss for a lot more than that.... because he's an ass hole..

Thanks guys

Just plug it up to your truck, it will tell you if it's VIN locked or not. That's a damn good deal if it's not!

Alright Morgan and or David I just threw this cortex in tonight to test it out.. Maybe one of you can answer me this

Everything worked as suppose to but the shift from 1st to 2nd is rather rough and it kicks pretty hard

Does that sound normal to you?

Well, first off, congrats on the tuner!

Second, yeah, lower your WOT (I assume you were wide open?) shift points. If it's the normal 1-2 check what shift points settings you're using (i.e. stock, user, SC).

Ok so I guess the guy never did a update to the Cortex since he bought it so I downloaded all the updates and hooked it back up at the preformance 91 and the shift is a lot smoother but there is still a little kick to it when it kicks into 2nd but a lot smoother..

and yes dave that is only in WOT

How do I change the shift point in WOT

It could be the reduced amount of torque management. If it's more of a smooth kick it's normal. Try driving it a while and see if it softens up. Also, if you decide to keep it, I would buy the transmission tuning package, it's worth the $40.

When doing the advanced tuning, there are options for rev limit and wot shift points, as well as tire size, MDS disable, etc. I would start with 6200 rev limit and about 6000 1-2 and 2-3 shift points.
