If anything it will help. If a hoodrat walks up and sees a mother effer with a gun on his hip odds are he's gonna be like "oh shit. I'm out" and not commit the crime. Aren't people scared to do that kinda shit when a cop is around? Same shit different day. Only difference is a cop can arrest you, random person who is licensed to carry a gun can just shoot you. I'd personally rather take on a cop cuz a taser only hurts for a little bit but a bullet kills your ass.

The only real good that open carry is going to do is prevent the petty shit like a "casual exposure" ticket/charge. Anyone who carries a weapon on a daily basis as a civilian knows that the tactical choice is to keep it concealed.
Here's a good article to read:

And my 2 cents, after doing extensive research and writing two 10+ page papers on the subject, open carry does not present any more of a threat than is already posed. However, it does give law abiding civilians the opportunity to defend themselves and those around them. And the fan issue.. shooting someone over the outcome of a game is just stupid and the people who did it seriously have some issues. But it never did say who the two shooters were so it's unclear who's fans they were. And this is not an incident unique to OKC either. It's ignorant to think otherwise.

I never saw a single article that stated it was a fan at all. There were a lot of peope in Bricktown last night, not all of them were there necessarily because of the game.

Yeah I heard that it happened around the Sonic headquarters next to the Harkin Theater... so like said, it could have nothing to do with the game.
