I'm not saying I thought my house was going to fall over...but for a person born and raised in Oklahoma and having NEVER felt an earthquake before that was a trip.

Us GD oil and gas guys.... We are taking all the natural lubricants out of the earth which is causing the earthquakes....... They blame everything on us...

I can see how all the drilling may affect the stability, but like Matt said, it doesn't bother me at all...especially since I haven't seen any proof or a real replacement for the resources being pumped out.

Just FYI--
There has been a lot of study of the tremors in Oklahoma over the past 10 years or so...It has been determined that the active faults (the ones shifting) are in a non productive (no oil and gas) geological zone; and as such there is no extraction or injection into these zones.
Oklahoma is historically a very active area and evidence of such can be seen from from I-35 just north of Ardmore in the Arbuckle Mountains. These mountains were created by an enormous earthquake that actually turned the earth on it's side. if you look at the stratigraphic layers they run nearly vertical as opposed to there normal horizontal orientation. Once an area becomes active, it is nearly always active at some level.
With that said, Oil and Gas production can and often does cause small earthquakes; but they are so small that they usually aren't felt and extremely localized.
