Default June 2012 New Mexico show

This past week, I was in New Mexico for a couple of days. We went to Red River up in northern New Mexico and there was a pretty good car show going on. So of course, I got some pics. Not many Mopars which saddened me but there were some awesome rides... Heres pics of the best ones...

My favorite... 1968 Chevy Nova

First Yellow Jacket Challenger I've seen in person

Ridiculous... but so awesome

Nope I'm 100% sure it was a Camaro... it even had the Yenko sticker on the side. The last car IS a Nova...

They made yenko Novas too Colton the nova front end doesn't look anything like a camaro see the two "grille" looking things on the ends in the center... That's a dead give a way compare that to the bottom car both are Novas now google search 68 camaro they have round lights all the way at the sides of the front end

The car finally became simply the Chevrolet Nova this year after two years of transitional nameplates (Chevy II Nova in 1968 and Chevrolet Chevy Nova in 1969). Out of 254,242 Novas sold for 1970, 19,558 were the SS 350 or SS 396 version. Approximately 177 Central Office Production Order (COPO) Novas were ordered, with 175 converted by Yenko Chevrolet. The other two were sold in Canada. The Nova was used in Trans-Am racing this year.

Colton,
1968 Camaro with hide-a-way headlights

1968 Camaro with standard headlights

1968 Nova

Yenko was a car dealer that would order COPO (Central Office Production Order) cars...COPO was designed for fleet orders such as police cars but through a loophole dealers could order one-off big engine cars. Yenko just put stripes, gauges, headers etc on the COPO cars.

Here is a picture of a 70 Yenko Nova...

Or how about a very rare 1966 Yenko Corvair (1 of 100 white cars produced)

So while the Yenko Camaro is probably the most well known, the dealership also striped COPO Nova's, Chevelle's and Corvair's from about 1966-1970

So I guess what I am saying is the car in the first pic is in fact a Nova and not a Camaro.

What I want to know is how did I miss this???

An $85,512 V10 Challenger (kinda funny that the last three digits of the price equal the cubic inches of the engine...)
