I know we're not comparing apples to apples here but I know the best way to get mileage out of my truck is to run it on the hot tune (175hp) and keep my foot out of it. The general idea behind it is that the engine isn't having to work as hard to move the truck at a given speed.

This is why my truck had the best mpg on the 91+ Performance Tune.

It appears you may have over-size tires on your truck. If you installed a lower ratio gear set, I would bet you have no idea about what the actual ratio is. In any case, over-size tires and lower gears are not a good combination for fuel economy. I don't think a tuner will help.

The only way to get the best fuel mileage is to keep the engine tuned up, the oil changed, tire pressure on the high side of maximum and a light foot.
