needin some advice guys..
I bought a pioneer head unit the other day for my third gen. Not a double din. Just a standard CD/MP3 player. My radio installer says I need either a $100 wiring harness just to make the radio work, or a $150 harness to make my steering wheel controls work with the radio. Anyone have any tips on where to find a cheaper harness?

Not sure if it'll make your steering wheel controls work or not, but this is all you'd need...

Then all you would have to do is plug that one into the stock harness then wire the harness from the radio to that harness and bam, you got an aftermarket headunit

But... If he has the Infinity stereo system it may be similar to the Bose system in Chevys. I have never done an install on an Infinity system but i have on a Bose system and it is different and without the special harness some 'african ingenuity' is required but alot of money is saved. That is if the infinity system is similar

This is one of the examples I was talking about. Didn't actually do his install but did do plenty of messing with all of it

Jake, I got your message but was swamped last night between homework, my kid, and visiting my buddy who's baby was born last night.
Once you find the specific harness you need, go to crutchfield.com or sonicelectronix.com and you will probably find it much cheaper.
