Ohh.. and the amp has not overheated since I put the new sub in... I got about an hour of straight playing it and it got warm but not hot like it use too... Strange

Usually after about 20min of continous play it got so hot you could not touch it. and I always had to turn the bas all the way down.

i'm going to say you had the ohm load too low on the old amp and that's what was causing those issues ...
