Good news...I guess.
Well, after waiting for almost two months on this job in Saudi Arabia, I told them to pull my application. For some reason, the people that want me to work for them are in no hurry to get me hired. Their loss. So, I executed plan B...which is the job I wanted in the first place which came open a few days ago. UAE. United Arab Emirates. I have a phone interview after lunch today.
Better environment, my wife is actually willing to visit me their, better pay, and longevity. They will also have the latest and greatest equipment, which will keep me spun up on the latest upgrades to all the equipment<---Bonus. I'm really excited, and hope this works out. If not, Plan C...stay in Lawton at my current job until I can find something else.
No offense to you fellas from Oklahoma, I actually dig OK. I friggin' can't stand Lawton though.
Wish me luck, fellas.
BTW, won't be able to make it for the get together tonight...just too much crap on my plate to drive to OKC.
Hasta
Jeff

Hope it all works out for you! I know what you mean about Lawton, I lived there for 18 years and there is no way in hell I could ever live there again. It just sucks.

Phone interview sucked. I was on a three way with on of the 'old school' technicians that has been around FOREVER. I wasn't expecting to be quizzed to the 9th degree by "Dallas", yes, his real name. Plus I got busted out for a typo on my resume...damn. Overall it went well, I just don't think I was prepared as well as I should have been. Regardless, worst case scenario...I get to stay in OKand keep my current job. As a bonus, I still get an opportunity to meet some of you guys in person and shoot the breeze. No worries.

Status: I'm outta here!!!
Got the phone call last night! I leave for 6 weeks of school on Nov 28 in El Paso, TX. Then fly straight to UAE. fwiw, to claim the XPatriot status(first $91k tax exempt) on taxes, you have to be out of the U.S for "330 Consecutive days". I will be cutting it kinda close by arriving in country on the first of February. Two year contract.
Please don't think I'm talking shit or flaunting money, etc. Bottom line, if you want something more, something different...GO For it. It took me over 20 years to land this job and I'm still going without my family(and truck). I've got a plan to get out of 'the game' and be completely done working in 5 to 10 years. This will put me at 45 or 50 years old and I can dick around the rest of my life.
WTF!!! "V6" member????
