basically displacement is how big your engine is but not actual physical outside it's the inside combustion chamber that determines your cubic inches (360) or liters (5.9) so the bore is how wide your cylinder is that number x your stroke which is how long the combustion chamber is x how many cylinders you have makes your displacement \

soo... the math breaks down like this bore is 4" volume of a cylinder is pi x radius squared .. radius is half of your diameter or in this case 4" ... so 3.14 (pi) x 2 squared or (4) gives you 12.56 x stroke (3.58) = 44.9648 and that equals your displacement per cylinder x 8 cylinders = 359.7184 cubic inches ...
