We are being inundated with spam users and posts. I have deleted about six threads this morning and banned over a dozen user accounts. I literally got done with that to find two more threads that were completely spam.

I am trying to get in contact with the site owner and will keep you guys up to date.

spammers...........rock.

There's not a LOT that can be done other than to kill it, ban, etc. They always find a way back in.....

I figured that. I'm just hoping this recent flood will stop if I stay on top of it.

Gotta love spammers. I've also gotten several emails from my old Central Mopars account notifying me of log in attempts from someone else. I haven't been over there in a LONG time.

I've deleted about 7 or so myself since the weekend. We're trying to do everything we can.

damn, they have 9 new threads of spam this morning.....

Might be time to lock down some of the new user registrations....

There's got to be a better way of keeping them from registering.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of this shit very quickly. Now we've moved on to the spammers that just copy and paste old posts.

Yeah, is there any way to suspend registration for awhile and ban all the spam accounts?

Do they not have to type in a cryptic code or jump through any other hoops to register?

We tried to get something like that set up but obviously whatever the admin setup hasn't worked.

do you guys ban any IP strings? On another site we ban whole strings of IPs based on country of origin...just best to go ahead and ban anything within a few thousand miles of China.

Or set it up to where the person has to be approved by a moderator or admin before they can post.

I am working on a couple of things but, to be honest I have no support from the owner/other admin and am trying to figure out a couple of things on Vbulletin. I will be banning all the Russian, Chinese, etc IP addresses. If we continue to have problems, I will move it to Admin permission required to register.

I apologize for all of the problems. Between work, school, and home, this is falling further and further down my list of priorities. That is not to say I am leaving you guys to deal with it, just that I am trying to find time to fix this.

David, a few spammer posts aren't going to kill our enthusiasm for the site. We can read around the bullshit! :D

I am more irritated now than when I posted that...apparently the owner has not given me "SuperAdmin" permissions so I cannot access the necessary options to ban IP strings or limit user registrations....and now I play the waiting game.

Well, now that I've had higher authority as far as site administration for a week or so, it looks like we are finally getting a handle on the spam. I love being able to ban entire IP strings.
