As long as u keep a muffler no cats is fine. My Tahoes straights with no cats and headers who cares. Old school dudes got different opinions. Just food for thought if no cats was so bad then why do n/a lsx block trucks run no cats?! I mean they only have 20k ties up in motor lol

I've told you about what happened to my '04 when I dropped the cats, but its up to you.

I know Dave, I'm just doing some extra thinking on it. Probably just gonna leave it on and see how I like it. If I want it louder, then I'll think about cutting it off.

If you want it louder, why not just install an electric cutout before, or even right after, the cat?

I'd say when your timing slips show somewhere around 250 rwhp you can worry about your exhaust. At 188 hp it's not an issue unless it's plugged.

Haveing it tested when you get your muffler installed might be a good idea.

Hm... Might be a good idea. Found one on Summit Racing

I know it's manual, but I wouldn't mind doing it myself. Pretty good price I think.

One thing though, if I put in before or even after the cat, that's going to be underneath the cab... Wouldn't I have to worry about exhaust fumes getting in there?

BMRbrnSNRbrd 10-03-2012 02:25 PM

I wouldn't mess with a manual cutout...I know it is cheap, but its meant for someone who only intends on using it at the strip. Save your pennies and get a Raceland cutout. Also, the only time your exhaust fumes will be a problem is if you plan on idling for a long time on a calm day.

nothing is cooler that hitting the remote on the cutout, I don't care who you are........its like your first nut. :D

ramthis9501 10-03-2012 05:27 PM

Alright it's gonna have to be awhile though before I'll be able to get an e-cutout. I'll just get the muffler put on and do the cutout later

I ran my 89 dodge straight piped, cut off under the cab and never had an issue with fumes in cab. I say keep the cats on magnum engines, the exhaust flows on the newer stuff is alot better than it used to be.
