Throwing the idea around...
So, I have the aftermarket Kicker Mopar component system in my truck and I really like it. Especially, pairing it with the sub in the FoxBox. What I think I may want to do is buy the Kicker DX 400.4 to match the DX 500.1 that runs my sub and have it run my components...
I was just wondering how much of a pain in the ass it would be to run the wires and all the splicing because the speakers use plugs and are not just soldered or the screw type connectors. What do you guys think? Especially, you Morgan LOL |
I think it will sound great, but that's all the knowledge I have.
|
Ha, thanks... I like the way it sounds now, but as you may know, modding never ends
|
Morgan knows his shit on this! He helped me a LOT on mine.
Do you have the alpine setup or no? |
No, mine came with the stock 15 watt speakers and replaced it with the Kicker kit that's specific to new mopars. I really like it, comes with 4 6X9's and the 2 tweets all for about $300 bucks. Then the gf got me a Kicker monoblock amp and foxbox for Xmas last year. I just threw a sub I had laying in the garage, which as soon as it blows I'm replacing it with a Kicker. That way it will be all Kicker components...

oh, then I would just run some speedwire up behind the dash, and splice it in there. No real "need" to run new wires to each speaker.

That's what I was kinda thinking, but I was just wondering how much power/signal would be lost bc of the added resistance with basically double the length of wiring. OR I'm just nuking it... haha
|
Glad you guys have faith in me!
Jeremy is right, just run some speed wire from the amp to the radio and splice it in there. Running speaker wires through the doors is a huge PITA! |
What about the signal? That's the main thing I was worried about. It should be fine, right?
|
You won't lose enough signal ti be noticeable.
|
Sweet! Thanks guys
|
I need to add all of this to my "to-do" list.

The Kicker Mopar kit is all 4 ohm impedance drivers, so yes, adding in the amp is a nice upgrade. On your kit, did it come with the 4.1 amp, or just speaker upgrade?
We just bought a brand new 2012 4 door Ram Express, doing our new 4.1 amp and sub combo in it. |
just to elaborate on that... yeah he didn't get the 4.1 just the speakers .. but as tracy said you can add on the 4.1 it goes under the dash and the eq curves are designed for those speakers.. for that truck i actually have that truck he's talking about at our shop and there is a big difference between amped and non .. it comes with all the wiring and brackets you'll need and is out of the way ... the ONLY downside is that it's not adjustable .. for someone like me who likes to tweak things to my taste it's something i wish it had however for someone who isn't a 12v audio nut it is probably the best bc it's set up much better than most people set up a 4 channel amp ... so it's your choice ..
