New Truck

Well boys,

As some may have seen on Facebook. I traded the 2500 in on Friday for a left over brand new 2013. Between the deal I got with the options included and my current position with trucks... I could't walk away from this deal.

The only thing that was a real hold back on my part was the color.... This botch is red as red can get..... But with the sport package and after a few hours of looking atit and test driving it, I really came to like it..

I was at the dealer and we were looking for a silver 2014 Sport but they couldn't get me a truck with the options I wanted in the price range I wanted.. Also my dealer couldn't find one less then 200 miles away.. but I was having to compromise every truck they found with less and less options..

They had this red one on the lot and like stated... Couldn't walk away from the deal..

The only thing this truck does not have less from being totally "loaded" is
Ventilated seats, back up camera and the air ride... It literally has everything else.

I will post up all the specs soon, more pictures as well.... But this is the only one I have less the one I posted on facebook.

I will be doing a few things to it but nothing drastic.

very nice Kyle!

Slick truck man! I'm gonna miss the silver truck but that looks nice! What kind of plans do you have for it?

It's a 3.92 rear end. Every truck that I have looked at, on the build sheet it says 3.21 then a few lines down it says 3.92 rear.

Every Sport truck from 2013 and up has the 3.92 which is standard on all Sport trucks from 2013 and up.

Gotcha!!

myoung84 03-10-2014 11:33 AM

Can't believe the 2500 is gone but this is a very nice replacement. I've also never been a huge fan of red but that looks pretty damn sweet, especially with the black lights and sport hood. How are you liking the 8-speed?

And let's be honest, it's not going to stay stock for long. I've conveniently pasted links to the first round of mods below... ;)

I can't believe it either man! lol... But I love this truck!

The 8 speed is amazing to say the least. the truck pulls like an Ox with the 3.92 with the 8speed. I love the way it feels... It feels like a "sport truck" the ride quality coming from the 2500 is not of this world lol.

And yes Morgan...... I've already been in contact with Matt :D

myoung84 03-10-2014 02:45 PM

Haha! What else you have planned for it? Any suspension, tire, or wheel mods planned? I'm thinking some Bilstein 5100's up front with some Toyo ATII 33's would be pretty sweet!

(S.M.R) 101 03-10-2014 07:21 PM

I don't think I'm going to do any suspension stuff.. for sure will be getting better tires.. the toyo at2.

S&B in glass intake with the 87mm TB with some sort of a tuner. Not sure what tuner I will go with yet.

I'm actually thinking about keeping the stock wheels and doing the anthracite PD.. I think that the anthracite would look really good with the red.

I'll be installing the back up camera soon. I'll need to paint the tips black and am unsure about doing exhaust... the truck sounds really good as is and not sure if I want anything louder.

Window tint will be going on first!

(S.M.R) 101 03-26-2014 09:21 PM

Alright guys.. I'm going in this week to ditch these stock HP tires on here..

I've narrowed my search for tires down to these tires;

Nitto Terra Grappler;
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa32a90b1.jpg

Cooper A/T3
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...psad5528ae.jpg

Cooper ATP
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps53bd7bd6.jpg

Cooper Zeon LTZ
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps321eb959.jpg

Open Country AT2
http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps072e23ea.jpg

I have had the Cooper Zeon's and the Cooper AT3 and they were both great tires... I really like to Zeon's but wanted to see what you all think?

0212353 03-26-2014 10:12 PM

the toyo at2 kicks ass man

(S.M.R) 101 03-26-2014 10:17 PM

I like the A/T2's but really don't want a lot of road noise.. That's really my only issue with them.

I know once you go with an A/T tire you are going to get some road noise but wan't to try and keep it minimal.

myoung84 03-26-2014 10:23 PM

I also vote AT2s. Mine were great with no road noise, even in the xtreme size.

0212353 03-26-2014 10:30 PM

i don't hear mine

(S.M.R) 101 03-26-2014 10:37 PM

After having the 35's....... I hate road noise lol.. I know it won't be anything like the 35's.. I like the smooth quite ride this thing has but a little road noise wouldn't be bad. I might give them a try.. I had it down to the toyo's and the Zeon LTZ

Matt 03-29-2014 01:46 AM

ltz!!!!

DoubleTakeDodge 03-30-2014 11:06 AM

Definitely the toyo at2

myoung84 04-04-2014 04:05 PM

Get the ties swapped yet? How are you liking the truck now that you've had it for awhile?

I'm back to leaning towards a 1500 again. As much I am trying, I just can't justify a 2500. I'm liking the Granite Sports with the 6' bed!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 04-04-2014 06:12 PM

That's a great looking truck Morgan.

myoung84 04-04-2014 07:17 PM

It's like your younger 4wd brother. Lol

0212353 04-04-2014 09:09 PM

sport over laramie?

(I think I would!)

myoung84 04-04-2014 10:13 PM

I wish I could get the bench seat in the sport... I'm not big on chrome but like the Laramie interior a little better. The price diffence between the two isn't much at all.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 04-04-2014 11:34 PM

No way. Sport all day.

myoung84 04-05-2014 10:23 AM

I just like the center seat for the 3 times per year that I use it. Lol.

The sport would definitely be cheaper on mods since I won't have a bunch of color matching to do.

(S.M.R) 101 04-06-2014 10:58 AM

Went with the Zeon LTZ. Not Installed yet.

I love it Morgan. I haven't thought about a 2500 since I got the 1500. It's just a power house. I love the interior of this truck. I test drove a 13 Laramie that they had as a left over. It was the max steel 2 tone with silver bottom. I liked the red sport more.. and that Laramie was less then the sport and it had more options. Fully loaded with everything. Drop Down dvd and air ride.

To much chrome and I liked the sport interior better. The seats grab you in the sport.

myoung84 04-06-2014 11:20 AM

That's good to hear. I think it's a sport for me. Where's the pics of the new tires? Lol

(S.M.R) 101 04-06-2014 04:46 PM

Pictures will come soon as I get them on lol. I'm slacking!

myoung84 04-06-2014 08:50 PM

Re: New Truck

The more I think about it the more I like the Zeons. I had them on the 2010 and like them a lot. They are fairly aggressive yet have a sporty sidewall. It's like the mullet of tires. Haha. I really miss this look...

http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSCN0084.jpg

(S.M.R) 101 04-06-2014 10:42 PM

Hell yeah. I had them on the 08' and I loved them. Like you said, kinda off road, kinda sporty. I like them.

Them on some 22" MG SRT 10 wheels with a level kit on the truck....... Ohh Yes.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 04-07-2014 06:52 AM

There you go.

myoung84 04-07-2014 11:05 AM

That would be sweet!

Are you planning on doing a leveling kit? I think the Zone kit is probably the best bet.

(S.M.R) 101 04-07-2014 12:04 PM

Yeah, I think that is the set up I will go with for wheels and tires.

I agree with you on the Zone level with the new UCA's.. That's wild how them ball joints are popping out..

and to think.. all the dealerships are installing these level kits on these 13's and 14's and have no idea the damage they are causing lol..

There are 3 trucks at the local dealer with level kits and new wheels and tires.. Wonder when they will catch on?

On a side note. The replica SRT 10 wheels are actually lighter then the actual SRT wheels right? I wonder if I should just get the OEM SRT's or go with aftermarket?

myoung84 04-07-2014 03:24 PM

I have no idea on the SRT wheel weights. My plan is to keep rolling mass down as much as possible though. That's the biggest impact on MPG. According to the Body Builder site, the sport wheels are 33 lbs. The GY SRA tires are 40 lbs. So, I'd at least like to stay around 80lbs per corner. Looking at the sizes available, once you get over the stock size, the weight jumps up a lot. A 305/55/20 Toyo ATII is 74 lbs!

Here's some info I've found on various tires in stock size as well as the weights of the stock wheels.

Goodyear SR-A: 40 lbs
Toyo ATII: 43 lbs
Cooper AT3: 48 lbs
Cooper Zeon LTZ: 53 lbs

Laramie Wheels: 32.2 lbs
Sport Wheels: 33.2 lbs
Longhorn Wheels: 34.5 lbs
R/T 22" Wheels: 34.9 lbs

(S.M.R) 101 04-07-2014 08:17 PM

Damn. Thanks for the info Morgan.

Matt 04-08-2014 11:12 AM

20x10 rockstar 43.5lb
37x13.50 toyo 93 lbs

lol 136.5 lbs per corner plus matching spare in the back ... ughhhh gas ha
