ramthis9501 09-09-2011 10:29 PM

Dang dude your not messing around lol tow mirrors are gonna look good!

916Timmy 09-09-2011 10:34 PM

That is an awesome head unit!!!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-09-2011 10:43 PM

Badass...is that the same headunit Jeremy has?

(S.M.R) 101 09-09-2011 11:09 PM

I thought Jeremy had an Alpine?

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-09-2011 11:17 PM

You're right, my bad.

Matt 09-10-2011 04:42 AM

what kind of box do you want?

myoung84 09-10-2011 09:51 AM

Awesome dude. Going to sound great! Ill have my tow mirrors next week!

(S.M.R) 101 09-10-2011 02:40 PM

I just want a good box... One that is best for the trucks but just can't find one

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 02:13 PM

My head unit will be here friday!!! and my dash Bezel should be here tomorrow! found out the subs were on backorder........ but that's alright because I still have not found a box yet.. and I got my Tow mirrors but they were not power or heated like I ordered so sent them back...

Now I seen a set of the towing mirrors on a dodge truck around town here and maybe it was just the quick glance that I got but I did not like how it looked... What are you guys thoughts on these towning mirrors? I might just get a refund for them

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-14-2011 02:19 PM

I think that unless you NEED them you should leave them off. I know a lot of people swear by them but I feel there's got to be a better way than slapping a huge set of dumbo ears on the truck.

As for the box, have you considered having Morgan build one for you? I know he's done a few in his day. (Sorry if I'm throwing you out there Morgan).

myoung84 09-14-2011 02:46 PM

I agree with David on the mirrors. The stock mirrors actually look a little better than the tows. I actually have a legitimate use for the tow mirrors or I wouldn't have swapped for them. When I have my ATV in the bed and the bed cover up against the back window, all I have is the side mirrors for rear visibility which suck for trying back my boat into tight places. I think backing a trailer will be 100x easier with the bigger, wider mirrors.

And on the box, I could help you build one or even walk you through building your own, but I have decided not to use my truck as a mold anymore. It makes my truck stink like ass for a couple months. Another option is a Fox Box, which actually fit in the 3rd gens without removing carpet and padding...

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 02:47 PM

yeah I just hate the bubble look of these mirrors dude.. Wish I could fit a set of 4th gen's on there.. I'll just get my money back, Tow Mirrors are out.

I was going to ask Morgan but I'd hate for him to have to use his truck again to do another box.. and nobody wants to make a custom box for me around here they are all like we only order boxes.....Dicks..

myoung84 09-14-2011 02:48 PM

For the amount of labor involved, most shops would charge you an arm and 2 legs to build a custom box. You're looking at around $75 in materials if you build your own.

What kind of tools do you have available? You could build one with a circular saw and a jig saw, but a table saw makes things a little easier. Then you just need the fiberglass mat and resin.

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 02:50 PM

I would have my brother in Arkansas build me one he makes amazing boxes but he is a dick and we do not get along very well.... so he's out

myoung84 09-14-2011 02:51 PM

Lol.

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 02:56 PM

I was looking at the fox box for the 2 10's but not sure if I wanna go that route.. Not a fan of the new boxes they have in production right now.. Wish I could land on an old verison of the box but can't find one anywhere.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-14-2011 03:20 PM

Hell, just do a full custom setup and install the subs facing up IN the seats...that way the ladies that ride in the back will get a HELL of a ride!

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 04:22 PM

hahaha now that's an idea Dave!

how much did you spend on them?? i like them on the lifted trucks but not so much on the stock size ones especially if you have wide tires

exactly its alot more labor then most people think .. they want a custom box for 100 bucks and then want to get mad when you say no lol

btw i'm talking in general not about you lol

I agree. If you factor in materials and about 6-8 hours labor, at a conservative $25/hr, you are well over $200. Then if you figure a stereo shop doing the work with large overhead, that labor cost could get upwards of $75-100/hr. If I was running a stereo shop, I wouldn't build the box I have for less than $500.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-14-2011 05:27 PM

So in other words when I need one I'll just ask you to help me. :D

i have one but its ported, i wish it were sealed. but it is a really nice box. it lives up to the hype

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 07:49 PM

Ohh what's that Mike you want to sell me your ported box?? damn dude your too nice send it my way :D

Matt 09-14-2011 09:19 PM

what exactly do you want??

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 09:55 PM

A box for 2 10's..... Just a box that is actually worth buying that is better than most "Walmart" boxes that are sold today

myoung84 09-14-2011 10:10 PM

I think a fox box or custom fiberglass box is your only option.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-14-2011 10:22 PM

Dude...it's a damn good price for a dual 10" vented box...and shipped!

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...yleboxcart.jpg

myoung84 09-14-2011 10:28 PM

Hell yeah it is! I'd have a hard time building and shipping a box for that much! Wonder why he doesn't make a dual sealed box?

Matt 09-14-2011 10:40 PM

seems like people just want more output now-a-days and ported boxes most of the time offer more output

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 10:43 PM

yeah I was looking at that box today and it is a really good price. Don't you have to relocate the cup holders with the new fox box? and it comes in like 3 different parts.. So I hear..

F it i'll just order that one..

Thanks guys

Matt 09-14-2011 10:48 PM

can you find pics of this??

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 10:51 PM

I can't find any for this box.. But a member on one of the forums bought one and was saying that you have to relocate the cupholders and you have to put the box together when you get it.. I'll try and find the post and see if I can nab sme pic's

BMRbrnSNRbrd 09-14-2011 11:20 PM

Even if you do, how hard can it be?

(S.M.R) 101 09-14-2011 11:23 PM

ehh... i'm sure it's simple i'm sure I can figure it out

(S.M.R) 101 09-15-2011 04:51 PM
