Wheels

Im planning on getting rid of the plastidip on my wheels and putting some permenant black paint on it. I called some power coating places but their wanting to much money... so what is the best kind of paint I can get so I can do it myself? I'll be using a gun to shoot it, just need some heat and brake dust resistant paint.

There are places that sell wheel paint specifically. Might check with Palace Auto Supply in Norman.

what prices are you getting for powdercoat?

ramthis9501 04-06-2012 07:44 PM

Anywhere from $65-$80 a wheel, I figured it would be alot cheaper since their only 17" and no chrome

Matt 04-06-2012 07:47 PM

call around then .. who gave you that pricing? i got all 4 of my 17" wheels for 120 bucks out the door blasted/coated/tax

ramthis9501 04-06-2012 07:48 PM

I've called about every powdercoating place around... the cheapest I could actually find was $200 for all 4. Where did you get that done at Matt?

Matt 04-06-2012 07:51 PM

seminole ok

I think so... I'll try again tomorrow or Monday

And Matt, whats the name of the company? And how long ago did you have those done?

BMRbrnSNRbrd 04-06-2012 07:59 PM

I had a set of 22s stripped, coated, etc all done there for $350 and they did an awesome job.

Ok cool, think I might try that. Thanks man!

How is the wheel paint holding up? I still want mine black but wasn't crazy about the plasti dip.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 04-07-2012 09:47 AM

Oh man Morgan...your truck with black wheels along with the rest of the truck will look BA.

myoung84 04-07-2012 10:20 AM

I loved the black wheels, but plastidip and lots of mud just didn't mix well.

ramthis9501 04-08-2012 02:51 PM

Yeah plastidip is pissing me off now. It is peeling all over now and I'm getting sick of having to touch them up.

Morgan, you need to paint your wheels black again, it looks so much better that way

LowRam 04-08-2012 03:19 PM

200 for all four i think would be worth doing, that way you know it will hold up, and you already know you want them black so its not like your taking a gamble on rather or not you will like them when you get them Back

^^^^^i agree thats not bad.....if you paint them yourself the key to wheels is prep they gota be clean
