Stupid Charger
I bought some AAC HOD lights for the Charger a while back. Wife called me Monday and said one was out already, which was kind of surprising. Since I wasn't really happy with the output, I decided to get a set of HIDs. Went with a NightVision kit with a relay harness. Got them installed yesterday and the firggin flicker and randomly shut down. I emailed the guy at Retro-Solutions and I need a stupid capacitor. Guess it's off to the Shack to see if I can fix it. Gotta make sure they are reliable since my wife is the one driving it every day.

Yeah Todd from retro solutions will tell you what you need.. I guess my truck is the only dodge ram in america that needed capacitors. Everyone else just had to use resistors.
|
He's a pretty good guy. I bought my projectors and new HID bulbs from him for the truck. My HID kit came from Unique Coatings since he wasn't around the other forums at that time, but it works perfectly and I have had no issues at all with it.
I hope a capacitor fixes it, can't have these flickering like a disco party all the time. |
i was on his site last night. 200 for a retro kit is awesome. i dont care for the halos or leds so i guess i will have to call him about putting something together. morgan are you rocking the halos?
i always make sure chrissy's care is proper as well. which is a PITA since she doesnt ever tell me anything is wrong, i have to do inspections |
So true HID's are never plug and play right?
|
not for our trucks lol..
me and Todd did a lot of beta with my truck last year I was putting all kinds of shit on there and finally the caps worked so.. i'm good now. |

And I hear you on the inspection part. I don't drive the Charger all that much so I really have to keep an eye on things. I always tell her let me know when you get close to xxx miles so I can go buy some oil, but it doesn't seem to work. Or I drive it and hear a weird sound, oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about that... What I would do if I were you Colton is buy a cheap set off ebay. However, are your headlights crystal clear or do they have those refracted lenses (little lines all through the lenses)? |
I put a cheap set on my 4 wheeler and they seem to be holding up fine though all the rough riding and being dunked in water and mud... I think they were less than $40 shipped...
|
he needs clear lenses

BURN! It's all good now, it looks almost as good as new thanks to my mad skills with the heat gun... Still want to break his face though.
|
run him over with the 4 wheeler then say oh man maybe you were right... i should get my brakes looked at.
|
I actually had a cheap set of "HID's" from eBay and they flat out sucked, so when I got my new heads, I got some sylvania ultrabrights and they are amazingly brighter

Colton, pick these up:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-01...item35b341cf70 That's a great price for essentially what you already have, just clear lenses so you can run HIDs. |
Those will look good!
|
get em. pretty sad when 2nd gen lights cost more than 3rd gen
|
Those are almost identical to what I have except the reflector is orange on mine, dang those are like $10 cheaper then what I got mine for to lol oh well, I got to save my money for my new sub...
|
Dude, let's piece you together an HID kit!!! I think I have two extra ballasts...you would need the right bulbs and might be set. What headlight bulb does your truck take?
EDIT: Looks like a 9004. |

I have an assortment of HID bulbs, but don't think any are 9004... I'll look tonight when I get home.
|
Heck yeah! I'd appreciate that! And yes it is 9004
