http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-59-02_501.jpg

Has the 3.7 V6... so its far from a powerhouse lol but it drives pretty good!

I'll post some more pics tomorrow of my sanding progress... wish me luck!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 05-17-2012 10:51 PM

Are you sanding by hand or with an electric or air sander?

ramthis9501 05-17-2012 10:58 PM

Air sander!

rvarela 05-17-2012 11:00 PM

so far, so good. cant wait to see more. good luck bud!

Matt 05-18-2012 03:48 PM

Are you going to block it?

BMRbrnSNRbrd 05-18-2012 04:41 PM

Matt, please don't start picking apart everything he's doing.

ramthis9501 05-18-2012 04:52 PM

It's all good, I'm not blocking it but going to sand it as smooth as I possibly can with the air sander, then shoot it with some high build primer to fill in any other imperfections, sand that down smooth, shoot it again with primer and sealer, make sure that's smooth, then shoot it with paint and clear.

Way to over react ask a damn question without a hint of negativity or attitude you get all sensitive calm down just a simple question just as you asked one

After your first primer coat do a guide coat since you're not blocking it that will help you knock down any high spots what brand of primer/paint/clear are you using if you use nason/DuPont be careful with the clear it will orange peal easy

ramthis9501 05-18-2012 05:25 PM

Not exactly sure what brand, but I think I'm gonna get all the paint and primer at O'Relilys. I think it's Nason that they have, but I'm not exactly sure. I'll be getting the supplies here in the next week or so.

Matt I'm going off of your past posts whenever Colton does something. You seem to like to ride him. It was just a request, not an over reaction.

Matt 05-18-2012 05:53 PM

And since then have I had 1 negative comment towards him? Can't live in the past

Okiespaniels 05-18-2012 09:36 PM

Colton...
Just a thought here, but if you have some door dings or imperfections that are a bit deep, use some stuff called "plastic putty". Comes in a tube like spot putty, but unlike spot putty it is much tougher and can be built up thicker if need be.
It won't split or crack and sands easy like body filler, and is waterproof.

Randall488 05-19-2012 01:59 AM

I used to work at a body shop, lol I feel ur pain man. Can't wait to see the finished product.

ramthis9501 05-19-2012 02:11 AM

Awesome Al thanks for the info. Can I just get it at any auto parts store?

Okiespaniels 05-19-2012 11:03 PM

I believe so...although I may have bought my last tube at Wally-world!

WillyBoy17 05-20-2012 08:40 PM

Hey Colton, havent been on in a while and seen what is going on but can"t wait to see your masterpiece. 2nd Gens have to stick together!! roulette

ramthis9501 05-20-2012 09:04 PM

Hell yeah they do! Glad to see your still around

For the truck... just gonna say, it took a total transformation today lol I'll just let the pics do the explaning...

http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-16-13_663.jpg

And for the "grafitti" on the side of the truck... I let my friend get a little crazy with the paint lol gonna be sanding it off anyway

Sanding will officially start tomorrow!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 05-20-2012 09:14 PM

Wow man...its serious now.

ramthis9501 05-20-2012 09:22 PM

I've been serious :fuckyea:

Okiespaniels 05-20-2012 10:20 PM

Might as well sand and paint the frame since you have the bed off!

Thinking about it...

BMRbrnSNRbrd 05-21-2012 05:50 AM

I would at least give it a good coat of black Rustoleum. If it were a dedicated show truck I could see sanding and painting but since its not, you might as well do half the work.

LowRam 05-21-2012 09:06 AM

just bag it now lol, this is exactly how completly custom trucks start. they start by saying im going to paint it, then the bed is off then you say im going to paint the frame while everythings off, and say well since ive got it apart and not sparyed yet you say well i may as well buy a custom hood so when i paint everything will be the right color, then well its never ending lol just do work bro!

ramthis9501 05-21-2012 12:26 PM

I want it to be a show truck :) I think we actually have a couple gallons of gloss black left over from other projects in the past that's still good. So I might just do it...

And doubt I'll be doing bags lol I almost did get a shaker hood for it a couple weeks ago though, deal just fell through. At least I got a tonneau cover though!

ramthis9501 05-21-2012 01:58 PM

Oh and here's the bed...
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-43-37_773.jpg

Going to pick up some sand paper, plastic putty and some other things so I can get started on it later!

ramthis9501 05-22-2012 09:09 PM

Been busy last night and today sanding it down. We almost have the whole cab done, just have the hood, door jambs and a few little spots to feather in.

One thing I am glad I remembered to do was shave that stupid radio antenna. So here it is!

Before:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-53-33_323.jpg

After:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-42-32_132.jpg
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-42-45_419.jpg

Also got started on taking the plastidip off the wheels. Used Daves ingenious plan and used a high pressure water gun to take it off. Works like magic!
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/a...-30-18_689.jpg

Two down, two to go... I'll be sanding those down as well and paint them with real wheel paint. Going with gloss black to match all the other accent pieces.

Called it a night, will be going to hopefully finish up the cab tomorrow, stay tuned!

DoubleTakeDodge 05-22-2012 09:26 PM

I like the shaved antenna. Truck's gonna look great man

Matt 05-22-2012 09:29 PM

did you weld that up or is it body filler?

LowRam 05-23-2012 08:59 AM

looks like he welded a peice of metal from be hind in first pic then fillered it in, which is how i personally would have done it, but i cant really tell if he did or not i hope he put something there welded tho.

@colton shave your door handles!:head3:

ramthis9501 05-23-2012 10:16 AM

Yes I put a piece of metal behind it and rivoted it in. Worked perfect!

And sorry but I just can't do the shaved door handle look... Just personal preferance.
