Dumb Question maybe...
So I was driving my truck today and got to thinking.......... I don't feel the MDS kicking on and off....
I'm guessing the 2500's are not offerd with MDS? so do they have the VVT? |
"This very capable heavy duty full-size pickup truck comes with a choice of two very capable engines: a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 or 6.7-liter six-cylinder Cummins diesel.
The standard Hemi V8, which is paired exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission, pumps out 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The engine features the Multiple-Displacement System (MDS) which shuts off four cylinders under light load conditions to conserve fuel."-http://www.leftlanenews.com/new-car-buying/ram/2500/# |
That's weird, I didn't think the 2500 had MDS...my dad's business partner swears his '10 2500 doesn't.
There's no MDS on the 2500s. It's a misprint. They do have VVT though. I can feel a big jump in power at about 3k rpm...
Yeah I figured the VVT but there is no way this thing has the MDS. I road in a 2012 1500 a few days agi and I could hear and feel it. But never even thought if mine didn't have it..... Humm that interesting.
Does your engine have a slight pinging like sound on acceleration? It's not pinging but it's a similar metallic like sound... I posted this on DT and a couple people said it was normal for the 2500s...
Yes it does dude I was going to ask you the same question but didn't know how to explain that sound.
I heard that it's because of the redesigned exhaust and Y pipe, but who knows if that's true. I tried to make a video but the exhaust over powers the pinging on the video.
I'll try and make a video of it tonight
damn interweb and its faulty info
i know when mine goes into mds cause of exhaust gets real deep.. and it says eco on top of my monitor in the center of gauges
Yeah I don't have MDS... Now that Morgan brought up that noise that's what i'm going to try and figure out now.
